Freedom Urgent Care is located a 300 W. Central Texas Expressway, Suite 115. Freedom Urgent Care opened April 20 in Harker Heights because the founders felt there was simply a need.

“Our mission is to provide you with comprehensive and cost effective health care,” according to their Website, www.freedomurgentcare.com

“Quality, Convenience and Commitment are the cornerstones of our service to you, your family and our Harker Heights community.”

Located in the shops of Modoc at 300 W. Central Texas Expressway, Suite 115, Freedom Urgent Care provides walk-in service with extended evening and weekend hours for non-life-threatening illness or injury.

Their highly skilled board-certified physicians, physician assistants and Nurse Practioners are dedicated to providing medical care specifically tailored to your needs, according to the Website.

Annmarie McKenna, chief executive officer, who founded the clinic along with her husband, an Army doctor at Fort Hood, and his physician friends, said they were frustrated with a system that required long waits by patients in emergency rooms. Sometimes patients simply can’t get in to see their primary-care physician.

“We’re a companion to the primary care physician,” she said. “You go right back to your primary care physician for a follow-up.”

She added, “It’s definitely been a process from where we’ve started to where we are. It’s been quite the journey, but exciting.”

Freedom Urgent Care accepts most major insurance and credit cards. Their phone number is (254) 833-8456.
