Waco can add another notch to its city belt when it lays claim as the home of Texas’ fastest-growing two-year public college. Community College Week has released its annual report, “Top 50 Fastest-Growing Public Two-Year Colleges,” ranking Texas State Technical College Waco as fastest-growing in the state in the enrollment category of 2,500-4,999 students for the 2007-2008 academic year.

The data, pulled from the national Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, also puts the college at 10th in the entire nation. From the fall of 2007 to the fall of 2008, TSTC grew by 21 percent, up to 5,093 students. Rankings are based on percent change in head count.

TSTC expects to make the list next year, too, as indicators – although uncertified – point to an enrollment increase of just over 32 percent, up to approximately 6,750 students this fall.

Community College Week , with an estimated readership of 35,000, features an analyses of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics, technology updates and more. The national magazine is distributed to college employees and students, as well as professional associations, industry executives, federal, state and local governments and others.
